Cate Park turns into a fairy wonderland on Saturday, July 7 ! |
| |
Boys and girls of all ages can flutter and flit with fairies, wands, wings, and other magical things on Saturday, July 7 as the Wolfeboro Area Children's Center presents a Fairy Land Festival at Cate Park in Wolfeboro. |
|
Cate Park will be turned into a fantasy land of one-of-a-kind, beautiful, handmade fairy houses. People will be able to take a tour of almost 30 locally crafted fairy houses from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 7. Admission to the event is a suggested donation of $5 per person age 13 and up. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Proceeds benefit the Wolfeboro Area Children's Center.
WLNH 98.3 will be broadcasting live from the festival. |
| Fairy houses are tiny homes built of “found” materials, lots of creativity, and a giant pinch of pixie dust. Twigs, stones, leaves, shells, bark, pine needles, leaves, and acorn caps become foundations, rafters, roofs, soft floors, and doors to these amazing creations. The design possibilities are infinite and enchanting (maybe you’ve seen the display in the window of Avery Insurance). |
Award-winning author Tracy Kane will be at the event chatting with fans and signing and selling copies of her popular The Fairy Houses Series of children’s and photo books.
Along with many wonderful fairy houses that will be on display, the event includes face painting, bubbles, the craft table for making your own special fairy house, wands, fairy wings, hats like those worn by Peter Pan or Robin Hood, and much more.
Kids can participate in the magic by coming dressed as dashing princes, fairy princesses, or daring adventurers, and then build their own fairy houses at the crafts table.
|

|
One fairy house will be awarded “Best in Show” and two other awards will be given at the event to recognize the wonderful creations displayed at the festival.
Some of these fairy houses may be raffled off at the event to benefit the Wolfeboro Area Children's Center.
